Time to look ahead to November at events that can be used to base a marketing promotion or campaign around.
Before that, the big event looming on the marketing calendar is, of course, Christmas and New Year. Well worth getting organised if you haven’t already done so. The big retailers have had Christmas merchandise on the shelves for some time already.
Back to November…
Here in Australia it’s Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, November 2. Plenty of opportunities for racing and “sweepstakes” style promotions.
And it’s Remembrance Day on November 11, of course.
In the USA, Thanksgiving falls on November 25, followed by one of the biggest shopping days of the year “Black Friday” (so called, because that’s when many retailers finally make a profit and get “into the black” for the year).
Mid term elections fall on November 2.
Other dates and events…
1 November – All Saints Day
8 November – Bram Stoker’s birthday (if Halloween hasn’t satiated your appetite for vampire themes!)
14 November – World Diabetes Day
20 November – Universal Children’s Day
30 November – St. Andrew’s Day
More events listed at www.BlueMountain.com (look in the “On This Day…” section)…
…including “Teddy Bear Day” (November 18) and “World Hello Day” (November 21).
Finally, some business trivia. On 29 November 1975, the name “Microsoft” (for microcomputer software) was used for the first time in a letter from Bill Gates to Paul Allen.

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for your post and good point about looking out for local events. In most places there’s usually something happening most months of the year.
