Posting has been light of late…
…because I’ve been in the process of relocating back to the UK from Australia.
In between selling my apartment, making preparations for the move and making sure client work is not neglected…
…posting here on the blog has taken a back seat.
Now, all this recent activity has meant I’ve been involved in a number of buying decisions…
…that lead me to reflect on why I made those decisions and the more general marketing lessons.
It’s generally held in marketing circles that people tend to do business with those who they “know, like and trust”…
…and that was very much the case for me.
First up, the key decision of appointing a real estate agent.
One of my clients is in the real estate business and although he doesn’t specialise in my local area, I trusted him enough to at least discuss handling the sale.
I confess I had a few reservations, but after addressing those issues I went ahead.
My faith was vindicated. The whole sales process went smoothly and I ended up getting a sale price that I was very happy with.
So, if you’re looking for a real estate agent in Sydney to sell your property, Barry Liddle and the team at Oz Combined Realty are well worth checking out.
Next, as part of the selling process I needed to get some plumbing repairs made in my bathroom.
There’s a bit of a back story to this.
Many months ago I discovered a slight leak in the bathroom basin. The first plumber I called in told me that he couldn’t make a repair and the whole unit would need replacing.
That left me in a dilemma because my bathroom decor was, shall we say, somewhat dated. It would be pretty much impossible to get a new basin unit to match everything else.
So, as the problem wasn’t too bad, I left things for the time being.
Fast forward to selling my apartment and wondering what to do.
One of my clients happens to be in the plumbing business, although not located in my neighbourhood. I decided it was worth getting a second opinion, at least.
Well Dave Conroy owner and mainman of “The Lone Drainer And Pronto” operates on the principle that “there’s always a way”. Suffice to say that he worked his magic and fixed my problem pronto and very economically.
So, if you’re looking for a top-class residential plumber in Sydney (primarily in the Eastern Suburbs, but close by as well) “The Lone Drainer And Pronto” gets my highest recommendation.
Back to the main point of this post…
…how we tend to do business with people we know, like and trust.
Well worth thinking about your own business and how to increase the number of people who do know, like and trust you.
In the new economy where power is very much with the consumer, if you don’t score highly on these 3 points then the odds are very much stacked against you.
One of the best marketing books published in recent years, is Dan Kennedy’s…
…which will give you some great ideas and strategies on how to become the trusted adviser in your field.
