Time to look-ahead at the month of November 2013…
…for events, occasions and anniversaries we can use as the basis for marketing campaigns and promotions.
FIRST…we’re fast approaching the end of the year…
and that means CHRISTMAS, of course. Major retailers will have started their Christmas campaigns a long time before now, so it’s not too early to look at your own campaign.
Before that, November in the USA means…THANKSGIVING (this year on November 28).
(In Canada, Thanksgiving Day is a month earlier on October 14).
This year is the 150th modern celebration on Thanksgiving in the USA, the first being on 26 November 1863 after President Lincoln proclaimed the holiday the previous October.

…on Tuesday 5 November.
Remember this is the Spring Racing Season so it’s not just about the one race on the big day.
Melbourne Cup Day marks the unofficial start of the Christmas run-in, so it’s not too soon to get started on your Christmas and year-end promotions.
