Time for our monthly look-ahead…
…this time at November 2012…
…for events, occasions and anniversaries we can use as the basis for marketing campaigns and promotions.
We’re fast approaching the end of the year, and that means Christmas, of course. Major retailers will have started their Christmas campaigns a long time before now, so it’s not too early to look at your own campaign.

“Black Friday” follows, which marks the start of the Christmas season shopping frenzy!
In the USA it’s a Presidential Election year (polling day November 6)…

Turning to Australia…
…the “main event” is undoubtedly…
…MELBOURNE CUP DAY…
…on Tuesday 6 November.
Remember this is the Spring Racing Season so it’s not just about the one race on the big day.
Melbourne Cup Day marks the unofficial start of the Christmas run-in, so it’s not too soon to get started on your Christmas and year-end promotions.
Remembrance Day is on Sunday, November 11.
There’s also a Solar Eclipse on November 14 (Cairns gets to experience a total eclipse for a couple of minutes just after daybreak at 06.38).
Finally, for this month of November 2012, one “off-beat” and one business-related occasion.
November 16 – “Birth Of The Blues Day” (anniversary of the birth of musician W.C. Handy in 1873…generally considered to be the “Father of The Blues”)
November 19 – Three major figures in 20th-century business management share this day as their birthday…Peter Drucker (1909), Jack Welch (1935) and Ted Turner(1938)
