With June is approaching…
…we’re almost halfway through the year 2013!
That in itself can be used as the basis for a marketing promotion…
…along with the other holidays and events that fall in the coming month.
If you’re in the northern hemisphere…
…the broad theme can be thought of as “Summer”.
The Summer Solstice occurs at 05.04 UT on June 21.
There’s also Father’s Day (June 16) in the USA, UK and Canada.
Other events…
June 5 – World Environment Day
June 8 – World Oceans Day
June 14 – Flag Day (USA)
June 16 – Father’s Day (USA, UK, Canada)
June 21 – Summer Solstice (takes place at 05.04 UT so check exact date for your location)
June 23 – Anniversary of birth of Alan Turing, celebrated mathematician and codebreaker
June 29 – Remote Control Day (in 1964 the remote control device was introduced)
June 30 – Meteorite Day (anniversary of the 1908 meteorite crash in Siberia)
Keep in mind that school and academic years may be ending in June, which affords an opportunity for a “graduation” theme.
Also, a number of sporting events (US Open Golf, Wimbledon Tennis and NBA/NHL finals) may provide a marketing opportunity.
And, as mentioned, June 30 / July 1 marks the halfway point for the year.
Turning to Australia for a quick look at the calendar…
June 1 – “Official” first day of winter
June 3 – Foundation Day (WA)
June 10 – Queens Birthday (all states except WA).
The Queen’s Birthday long weekend also marks the traditional start to the skiing season.
June 21 – Winter Solstice (occurs at 05.04 UT)
June 30 – End of the financial year
A notable anniversary falls on June 11…
…the 100th anniversary of the birth of football coach Vince Lombardi.
Should provide an opportunity for anyone in the personal development or success field.
Finally, some business-related anniversaries that may be of interest…
June 16 – FDIC founded in 1933
June 19 – in 1948, Columbia Records launched the LP record format in New York City
Hope this post has given you some good ideas and every success with your event-driven marketing in June 2013!
