A belated “Happy New Year” to you! I was away in the UK over the Christmas and New Year period visiting family. As always when I travel, it was interesting to observe what goes on in different countries. I’ll have more observations from my travels about marketing and copywriting in future posts.
One thing, however. I’m guesssing you don’t need me to point out that Christmas and New Year are peak times for marketing and promotions. Pretty much any business can have a Christmas promotion, ideally linked to the holiday theme. The same applies to New Year. At this time of year most people are looking ahead, planning to make a new start or improvements in their life. Health and wellbeing products are an obvious candidate for “New Start” type promotions but the same applies to almost any kind of personal development product.
One thing you as a business owner can do right now, however, is plan out your marketing calendar for the year. I’ve found that pretty much every single month of the year has an opportunity for some sort of “themed” promotion, someting that gives you a “reason why” to approach your clients with an offer. You don’t have to do something every month (although you could) but plan ahead.
The next “biggie” event will be Valentine’s Day in February and Easter comes early this year so it pays to think ahead and get ready now.
More in future posts. For now, may I wish you a most successful and happy 2008!
