Sad to hear recently of the death of Chet Holmes…
…sales, marketing and business building expert.
I first came across Chet’s work listening to the audios of a Jay Abraham event and my immediate thoughts were…
“Wow! This guy is incredible!”
Here’s what Jay had to say about his friend Chet…
“Together, for many years, we collaborated on seminars and client engagements a-plenty. PEQ, PEQ2, PEQ Cubed, the Strategy Setting Super Summit, Wealth Tracks…We had a very long and satisfying run and he was one of the most hands-on, hardest working, greatest contributing partners a marketing expert could ask for. He was also a formidable contemporary with a steel-trap mind. Also – he brought perspective, paradigms, skill sets and disciplined thinking to the forefront.
I’ll always remember his vision for building-out a huge organization with hundreds of salesmen and services. I aspired to a big organization, but didn’t really see his vision. Fast-forward five years and Chet employed hundreds of people nationwide. He had 15 divisions. He had coaching, research, consulting. I admired his ability to build an organization. Then, he partnered with my other dear friend, Tony Robbins, and their new business exploded.”
Jay generously made available this…
“How Strategy Makes Every Tactic Work At Least 5 Times Harder”
Tony Robbins posted about Chet here…
“Goodbye to Chet Holmes – An Extraordinary Friend And Business Partner”.
Good post from copywriting maven and swipe maestro Lawrence Bernstein…
Chet was the author of “The Ultimate Sales Machine”.
I bought this when it first came out in 2007 (even gave a copy to a client as a gift)…
…BUT I have to confess I never read it! It sat on the shelf like quite a few other books!
The sad news of Chet’s death prompted me to take his book off the shelf and have another look.
Oh. My mistake to not to have read this sooner.
First up, the title is a little misleading. Sure it’s about building “The Ultimate Sales Machine”.
But it’s a lot more than that.
It’s more like…
“Complete Business Success And The Ultimate Sales Machine.”
I’ll add a more complete review when I’ve finished reading the book.
Let me just say at this point there is a very clear theme…
“Pigheaded discipline and determination”
…are what will get you to the success you want.
Sure, Chet lays out a proven roadmap…
…but what counts is implementing that map.
And before setting out that roadmap, the first 3 chapters cover what Chet calls the…
…”building blocks you must have…to succeed long term”.
In case you’re wondering, they are…
- Time Management Secrets Of Billionaires
- Instituting Higher Standards And Regular Training
- Executing Effective Meetings
And when Chet talks about “Time Management Secrets of Billionaires”, that’s not hyperbole.
For a long time he worked for a bona-fide billionaire, Charlie Munger, Warren Buffet’s business partner.
So, more a handbook for business success.
Chet Holmes, we never met, but I thank you for your work. You’ll be missed.
