Today (February 2) is “Groundhog Day” which gives me the perfect excuse to post this trailer…
…with an important marketing lesson to follow…
I love this movie and watched it again recently.

Today (February 2) is “Groundhog Day” which gives me the perfect excuse to post this trailer…
…with an important marketing lesson to follow…
I love this movie and watched it again recently.
If you’re not familiar with the story…
Been a while since my last “Marketing And Movie Trailers” post…
…and as I’ve been to the movies a couple of times recently…
(to see “The King’s Speech” and “The Black Swan”, since you ask)
…thought it was time for another.
“The King’s Speech” is attracting widespread praise and picking up numerous awards. Thoroughly deserved in my opinion. Loved the film and everyone I know who has seen it feels the same.
Wonderful story, great acting and production and very moving. I confess I cried at the end.
Now, I remember seeing the trailer at Christmas when I was in the UK…
…and it immediately grabbed my interest.
I wished that “The King’s Speech” had been showing at the time…
…in contrast to the mediocre fare that was served up (I endured the latest “Harry Potter” and “Gulliver’s Travels” unfortunately).
So, I thought it well worth reviewing the trailer to see just what made me want to see this film.
Here’s the trailer…
OK. let’s go through this…
No excuse needed to post a cartoon from the great Tom Fishburne…
…but check out the full post “idea voodoo” for a wonderful example of some very smart marketing…
…you might even say it’s an example of adding some voodoo to the marketing mix!
Top copywriter Ray Edwards has just released a book titled “Writing Riches”…
…where he spills the beans on his approach to writing compelling copy that brings in the sales.
The book has just been released, so obviously I haven’t read it yet. But I’ve invested in a number of Ray’s programs before and always found them top-notch.
So no hesitation on my part in ordering the new book, especially as it’s only US$13.29 on Barnes & Noble (plus shipping, of course).
Well worth you checking this out over at Ray’s place…
“Book Recommendation: Writing Riches”
No affiliate link, just something I think worthy of your attention.
Ton of other people are spreading the word about this. Always interesting to see their approach and the email subject lines they use. Couple of the best, IMO…

Happy “Australia Day” wherever you may be!
Today, January 26, is Australia’s national day and marks the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788. Generally, it’s a pretty laid-back day given over to picnics, barbecues and other outdoor celebrations.
The 2010 Legatum Prosperity Index was recently published…
…and Australia came in at #4, with only Norway, Denmark and Finland ahead.
Call me biased, but that’s a pretty strong confirmation that Australia is one of the best places in the world to live…
…and hey, Oprah loves us too!
I’ll just add a small marketing observation…
