Posted recently about the importance of the “From” line in your emails…
…and how people I would have expected to know better were making a BIG mistake.
The blunder I was seeing…
…was to have something like “joe@joemarketer.com”…
…instead of “Joe Marketer”…
…as the “From” line.
Over the last week, I’ve seen this mistake in emails from two, pretty high profile marketing experts.
My guess is that what’s happened is that they have, quite sensibly, delegated some of the email tasks to staff or outsiders.
And those individuals aren’t aware of the problem.
Couple of lessons if you decide to outsource a marketing (or other) task…
1) Make sure you give very clear and PRECISE instructions.
2) CHECK the output. You should always make sure you receive your own emails in any case. Even the most experinced marketers can make errors under pressure. If you pick up mistakes quickly, usually they can be corrected without adverse effects.
