Stumbled across this great article about marketing at Disney World and how the folks over there are viewing economic conditions over the next year or so.

It’s from a gentleman called Jim Hill and the article is titled…

“Are Disney World’s Recession Worries Starting To Recede?”

Now I am a complete, unashamed, unabashed, raving fan of Disney World. Leaving all that aside, Disney is a very smart marketer and there’s a lot to be learned from watching what they do.

They are very skilled at getting people to spend money…and the amazing thing is that people are happy to open their wallets.

There’s not really any “hard sell”… but boy do they make it easy for people to buy!

And what Disney is really selling is good feelings and happy memories.

The article talks about some of the steps Disney took to maintain their business in the current difficult economic conditions (including some short sighted cost cutting…even Disney does dumb things sometimes).

More interesting are some of the actions that indicate that the folks at Disney don’t expect the downturn to last much beyond this year.

As I said, Disney is a smart company, so it’s worth paying attention to what they are doing and how they perceive the market.
